Good advice.

tons of these spyware and adwares
Could you describe one that you can't get rid of, for example.

Use HiJackThis.

I currenlty have the MidADle one that logs all the sites you visit to ads234.com, I hate it, still reading on how to get rid of it.

Make sure you know what you're deleting with HiJackThis, don't just click everything on the list or you could mess up your computer.

You have to create a corrupt cookie and have it having the same name as the MidADle cookie. Same as that DoubleClick one.

The program I'm using now is Spysweeper. Adaware and Spybot have gotten stale and stopped updating it seems.

How come I never seen to get adware? Perhaps it is because I never click Yes when an active x pop up comes up, I never open email attachments I didn't ask for and I never install anything without checking it with a spyware-checker and a virus-scanner (both freeware).

Prevention is the best way to stop things, not dealing with them after you get them.

Good point incka. I don't have any problems either but there are some people who just can't get around accepting malware.

I took the same precautions but had to remove about 10 a week with IE.

The program I'm using now is Spysweeper.

Nice... I just downloaded it and it found quite a few things Ad-Aware missed.

All this spyware crap is killing webmaster and affiliate revenue, in addition to being a nuisance.

If you use IE, disable activeX. Better yet, switch to FireFox and you won't get all the drive-by installs.

yea I did, just dont understand why people advertise with spyware popups, I hate all the popups that come up through that.

I can see how they may be cheating some affiliate programs, damn the net is still recovering for the burst but these spyware's aren't helping.

I hate Norton. We should really file a class action against them.

Norton software had a reputation for 'creating' problems which it miraculously fixed. It also tends to embed itself deeply in the OS, which many people dont like.

Not to mention resource usage, I agree it's great for the average user but I like to get in there myself.

Also if you don't update it, it comes up with loads of update ads. One I saw came up with them every 15 minutes while you were on the computer and you couldn't stop it. It could have been McAffe or Norton. The guy was complaining about it so I uninstalled it and installed Avast! for him. That was a month ago, he's had no problems with avast and neither have I.

If you need an antivirus get avast, it's free and isn't evil.
