"The average number of documents viewed per visitor is 1.050"

A sad sign from my stat package.

really depends on the visitors and where they come from. also, make sure your site has easily accessible navigation

The visitors only come to see 1 page of my site, once they see it, they leave. My navigation is ok.

Which site?

Low page views per user means that they aree not clicking on your internal links and instead click on your outbound links or simply closing the page. Your not "converting" your visitors. Are you call's to action internally as strong as your calls to action for extnernal links (ads, etc.).

You say your navigtion is fine, but your logs prove otherwise. There is some sort of design/usability flaw, or people just aren't interested in your content.

Do you have a clear message what your site is about near the top? I visited a few of the sites in your sig and it took a few seconds to figure out what the were about.

Also, are you paying for trafic? I've bought traffic a few times and found it's a pretty weak way to get visitors. Out of 10,000 visitors, 2 of them viewed more than one page. I won't be buying traffic again.

Just some thoughts.

My survival quiz drastically increased the page views per visitor on my survival site. The quiz has like 21 questions and each question is a new page, there is also a start page and an end page. So each person that takes the quiz generates 23 page views.

Do many people do it though?

My survival quiz drastically increased the page views per visitor on my survival site.

did you write the quiz yourself?

Yes, I wrote it myself, and to answer mike, it is a very popular feature. It is also the source of many many incoming links.

Yea, thought it would be quite popular. That small review of your site in ComputerActive magazine said how good the quiz was.

I'm quite interested in survival, when I went to your site the first time I did the quiz.

Your visitors either get to your site and don't like what they see, or they find all of the information they need on that one page and leave. If it's a page with valueable content, you could try splitting it up into a few pages with "previous page | next page" links at the end of each page.

or they find all of the information they need on that one page and leave

Bingo.

Hmm... I could try splitting it up. Don't think it would work though.... Since there is not alot of content on the page....

Maybe they don't find the finromation they need on that page and leave -- to another site. (Which is a possibility if "there is not alot of content")

Perhaps your web stats is counting robots?
