Can an htaccess file on a server not capable of utilizing it (non-Apache) mess anything up or will the server just ignore the file? I want to include some directory specific htaccess files in something that's being distributed, but since it will be available to everyone I wanted to ask first.

There's no option of alternate downloads (with and without).
