All my pages went up considerably in the SERPs tonight (European time). I've had some new incoming links to my main page, but by subpages also went up.

Might be an internal PageRank update. Have you noticed any changes?

Yes, noticed some changes. I've seen these changes happen before (like a week ago), but they didnt seem to last. I moved up about 15 spots on my main SERP.

Why oh why does google do this? Im so annoyed with it... Why oh why can't the real 10 sites get on the first page instead of all spam results... Grr... I just don't understand it...

It's not:

PR - The top spam result has PR 1, I have PR5, mike and jaffro has PR4...
Local Rank - The spam site hasn't got any relevent links, our sites do.
Keyword Density - The spam has the keyword a few times, but then look at my site...
Domain - We have the word, that spam is just a wierd CGI thing
ALT/Title tags..

So what is it? Is google not liking our sites because we are using the keyword too much? Is google trying to get subpages in to the results? What is wrong with it?

I haven't noticed any changes either, beyond normal shuffling about which happens daily.

Though, I did finally get a Yahoo directory listing in the carbohydrate counter category! Wohoo!

Also noticing a fair bit of traffic suddenly from aolsearch and lycos. Beyond that, everything seems normal.

Incka, I share your frustration. Despite having PR6 and several front page link exchanges with sites in the top 10 for "dating services", my dating services site is still no where to be found for the search term. I have no idea why.

Chromate - PPC advertising is a good idea, work out how much you earn per visitor and if it's higher than the cost per click on a PPC search engine advertise there... That's my new way... I'm building a few sites now for that...

A few improvements for me, sometime in the last few days.

Hows your house buying site going Chris? Be interesting to see how that's going, I'd think the keywords are high paying on google?

Yep its going good thanks Mike, last four or five days I have been getting some nice traffic (By that I mean several people a day! Which is good for me, that casino site is useless in the SERPs.)

But yeah, CTR seems quite good, and ads pay well too.

The bids are pretty high for dating related searches Incka. Considering I have to bid in £GBP and I receive revenue in $USD it means the ROI is marginal to say the least. That's with google.

However, searchfeed is far more interesting. The bids are naturally lower and I can bid in USD which evens the playing field somewhat. The quality of traffic also seems just as good as that provided by AdWords. Searchfeed can easily provide me with enough traffic to fill my limited budget. All things considered, searchfeed's a definite goer! But -shhhhh- don't tell anyone, let's keep the bids low ;) (fat chance!)

Way to much competiton.... and spammers...

All my search terms are really obscure...

http://www.google.com/search?q=How+Much+Money+Do+You+Need+To+Start+Playi ng+hold+em&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&start=10&sa=N

http://www.google.ca/search?q=hold+em+poker+rules+all+out+%22side+bets% 22&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&start=10&sa=N

http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=poker101

I just keep my link in my sig, that it where and why it gets 40 hits per day....
