Oohhh. It's showing up for me now. nsuforum.com dropped. I guess that explains the dive on the the SERPs it took a while back.

Nice, my gaming site is now at PR5.

Mike, would you be interested in a link exchange (on every page) between our gaming sites?

michael_gersitz

Yes, I would be interested.

Please PM Me...

This PR could have been used to generate rankings a couple weeks ago.... We don't know if it is new or old or what since the toolbar is no longer on the same wavelength as the index.

My two active sites moved up one number and a site that I haven't worked on in years moved up a number too. I haven't seen an increase of traffic though.

All my sites are up to PR5... I can't believe it :):):)

I agree. I've been seeing fairly gradual ranking changes over the past month or so. Whoever said that big ranking changes were out and gradual day to day changes were in is right imho.

I've got a load of new PR6's. Even my dating site has gone straight to a PR6!

A geocities site with a PR7... I found it looking through Chris' backward links...

Yep. Though, having said that - I'm still not listed for "dating services" despite being well optimized and having a PR 6. :( So, who knows.

Do'h! Stuck at work with internet connection only on a linux box, anyone let me know my homepage PRs?

Edit: Guessing a few of House Buying are PR4, as they are showing up in backlinks to the homepage.

Edit2: My House Buying site gets deep crawled every morning by Google, its even done it twice in a coupla hours, anyone else seeing this behaviour?

Jaffro

Seems to be good news for pretty much everyone so far. My competitors for the most part have remained the same as they were before the update, which is another plus :)

PR must have become easier to obtain. That doesn't really make much sense, though. Oh well.

Sean, check your e-mail!

I will when I go on a computer that can access my email.

I'm not sure why, I gave it 10gb space...

PHPMyAdmin is down too...

Chris

Alot of this could be from DMOZ. Going from a 9 to a 10 it obviously went up. So if you're listed in DMOZ (or linked to from sites that are) your bonus from that likely increased.

That site totally doesn't deserve that PR.
The DMOZ category it is listed in has a PR of 8, but that is pretty much it's only backward link.

incka

Don't be nasty to it, you get a good PR from it!

Chapter 18 on wilderness survival also has pr7 incase you didn't know.

I had two 6s, and both went up to 7, too.

:) Happy day. Rest stayed the same, however.

The sites that moved up; do they have DMOZ listings?

Yep. Though so do some of the ones that didn't. Both of the ones that moved up, though, have multiple listings.

Chris: are you sure DMOZ has a 10? It still shows up as PR9 for me.

chromate
04-08-2004, 08:44 AM
It shows PR10 for me.

Perhaps you are typing in an extension (www.)

I tried it with and without the www extension...but I just tried it again and now they both show 10.

Speaking of DMOZ, if I suggested a site to DMOZ, and saw from the logs they had been to look, how long would it take to appear if they accepted it?

D'you think I should have removed adsense from my house buying site before submitting?

incka
04-08-2004, 11:54 AM
Yeah, Debt Management Guide got turned down because of adsense - Snobby editor...

What PR does the category have?

chromate
04-08-2004, 02:44 PM
You shouldn't need to remove the adsense before submitting. A site should be accepted no matter how much money it's making, provided it's content is unique and of value. Unfortunately, a lot of editors will see and advert and automatically reject a site. I would always suggest mailing an editor in to find out what's happening with a site if you haven't heard anything for a long while.

I got into dmoz with adsense and banners on my site...

PR6. Only submitted it yesterday I think. Weirdly the category actually has no editor. Must have been someone from the one above or something.

incka

Apply to be an editor yourself...

Chris

I still haven't managed to get CBswords in DMOZ.

Yoda
04-09-2004, 07:31 AM
Correction from before; it appears virtually all of my sites went up, actually. Two went fom a 6 to a 7, three went from a 4 to a 5, and two went from a 0 (both are relatively new) to a 5. One (a personal site) went from a 3 back up to a 4 (where it was once before) and my newest site remained at 0/unranked.

So, happy days, in other words.

I thought editors could edit any category?

chromate
04-09-2004, 09:37 AM
No. You can only edit your own categories. And you have to apply as per normal if you want to edit additional categories.

incka
04-09-2004, 09:53 AM
Um, I thought that because of the edit thing at the bottom of every category...

Chris

Of course 3 years from now you'll need 20,000 posts to be #1. This August will be my 5 year anniversary at SPF.

Mike
04-17-2004, 09:40 AM
Could be my one year anniversary here soon, or has it already passed? I know it was around this time when the site opened. In fact, I think it's a week or two from now.

I found it while searching for my site - You had mentioned it when I gave you a week incharge while I was on holiday in August...

Mike
04-17-2004, 02:39 PM
I asked a question about PR on sitepoint I think, Chris replied then gave me a link here through a PM.

It was a day or two before the site had been fully launched, so I read all the articles then signed up here :)
