With all the filtering, algorithm changing, and god knows what else google is doing to keep my websites at the bottom of the SERPS, one would think that the PHD's would have figured out a way to fix the "miserable failure" joke by now ... to this day the #1 result for "miserable failure" is the Whitehouse profile of George W ...

If you're talking about the sites in your sig, they're at the bottom of the serps because no one's linking to them. Spend some time on each of them building their PR and that will help ;)

The miserable failure thing has been around for ages. I don't expect they really care about it.

I can help! Take down ads on your sites for one month and I promise I can get you loads of DMOZ listings.

Always be wary of anyone promising things in SEO :)

Yeah, but I'm offering to submit his sites to dmoz, not any SEO secret or anything.

Hey Incka I appreciate that .. I'll be in touch ... I can't just take down ALL the ads tho .. I have bills to pay ... I've actually managed a few listings in DMOZ already ... but anyway .. this wasn't my point .. my point was that I just think it's a bit ridiculous that Google hasn't addressed the "miserable failure" issue ... it's been months ..

Take down them on 5 sites at a time while you get links to them. Start with your Wild Survival one, you can easily get PR6 with just a dmoz listing (after google updates its directory).

I cannot believe another person who runs a wilderness survival site has made their way to this forum.

As anyone done the quiz on Chris's site? There are some funny answers in there :) I'll let you discover them yourself!

What's funny is that having spent some time in the US Army, I've taken the courses that use the manual Chris used for content. Same with the Orienteering site.

One of the things we had to do in Wilderness Survival was survive for 24 hours with just a few basic supplies. I had to kill a chicken with my bare hands and cook it for dinner. (Because, you know, chickens are just wandering all over the "wilderness"!)

The "joke" referred to in the original post is called Google Bombing.

I wish someone would Googlebomb Google.com to the top of the SERPS for "miserable failure" ... I wonder if they would address it then ..
