Adding rate feature

I am curious how one can add a feature to rate items on a site.

In this case, I am building a video site, and the owner wants people to be able to rate each video on the website itself, rather than on the video hosting site.

I find this topic impossible to search - I just get videos I can rate. :lol:

Now, what if you wanted a feature like a facebook "like" button? I don't actually want to use that feature, as, from what I can see, that doesn't function well when you want to have several of them on a page.

The site is supposed to be positive, so we're thinking we don't want a rate feature, but would like to allow people to say "Like"

I guess you'd just have to look through the results you get in your Google search. I don't know of one that specifically has Like opposed to other ways of rating.
