Website Layout Help

Hi,

I am trying to put together a portfolio of my work. I have already created the website but running into a problem. What I am trying to do is with the 6 images below the user will click on one of them and in the middle of the website the image would pop up upon clicking with a gallery scroll above the big image like shown in the picture. When the small image is clicked it is displayed below like how it is setup in the picture. Any helps on how I can achieve this?

A simple approach to this would be to create 3 divs:
1) the container holding the other 2 divs (ex - 200px wide by 250px high)
2) the large image for viewing (ex - 200px wide by 200px high)
3) the preview pane (ex - 200px wide and 50px high), and setting the overflow to scroll.
