Starting my own advertsing company?

I was thinking of starting my own advertising company initially to sell ads on my own website, then to slowly expand into selling ads for other peoples websites. Can anyone suggest the best ad serving software to do this?

Blimey, there is lots of competition!

Something like PhpAdsNew (now called open X) is fairly comprehensive and allows for different camapaigns and different publishers,

I always found it a little complicated for my needs, but worth looking at for what you want to achieve,

I've also heard great things about open X. I just wonder how scalable it is, if you plan to move to several thousand websites, you will surely run into growing pains, but I assume that when you have growing pains you will have enough money to hire a good developer.

If you have a high traffic website then of course you can sell ad space on your site.
