I know it will vary, but on average how long do you think it takes for a new site to show up in Google's results after it's been crawled?

Doesn't it really depend on whether or not an inbound link exists somewhere? i.e., if you submit your site, Google will come visit your site, but unless you have an inbound link somewhere, your site will not get indexed no matter how long you'll wait?

You can get new pages on a site indexed quickly by submitting -- Google will temporarily guess PR. But the listing usually only lasts a couple days.
