Hello All- I just got my first web design job since obtaining my associates degree in E-Business/Web Design. I am now contracted through my county Job and Family Services to design websites for people starting their own home based business. Included in that, I also create portfolios, business cards, etc. I had a meeting with them today and they have asked for my estimate for my first client. They want me to include the estimate of the cost of the supplies along with labor and I will be paid for that estimate. My question is if the county Im contracted through is paying for my supplies, (hosting, domain names, cost of paper for business cards, etc.) can I write these items off on my taxes also? Thanks in advanced!

You write off what you pay for, not what someone else pays for.

If they give you money to pay for the supplies, that is different, that is income, which you report as income, then you also report the supply purchases as an expense.

If however they're just paying for the supplies directly, then they write it off, not you.
