all the searches where i used to come up in the top 3-5 spots i've now dropped to the 50th or so spot. i did make a few changes to my site, but i checked google's cache and they haven't updated these pages in about a month, so that shouldn't by why. what else could it be? my traffic has dropped to about 1/3 of what it usually is... =\

Which one of your sites are we talking about here?

I think Google is definitely up to something. My "Indy Racing Collectibles" site used to be #1 for "Indy Racing Collectibles" (makes sense, right?). Now guess what is #1? Website Publisher!! DOH!! My traffic has dropped dramatically in the last few weeks (not that it was that much to begin with).

I think we may just have to be patient and wait for more updates.

I've been experiencing erratic rankings lately, however they are better than post-florida.

Website Publisher is higher than me on Debt Management Guide...

I'm sure Chris has some SEO techniques he is keeping to himself... I have some PR ones I'm keeping to myself, but he must have some general SEO ones he is...

I shouldn't think so Incka. What reason is there to keep them a secret?

If everyone knows then they lose their power.

Since we all try not to compete with sites, maybe there should be a Web Pub private SEO tip forum, for regulars :D

I should be excluded - I copied Mike's idea once. (I've let him copy some of my future ones in return if he wants)...

Interesting you should say that. I've often thought that it would be quite cool to have a private forum for "trusted" community members where we can share site ideas without fearing someone's gonna steal them. It would also be nice to be able to throw open an idea to the "trusted" community and invite them to start similar sites which you could then cross-promote - again without fear they would scam you.

There's a lot of secrecy surrounding the larger affiliate sites and the techniques they use. It would be nice to be able to discuss them openly.

And of course share SEO secrets, if there are any. Obviously people develop their own personal techniques. But I doubt there are any MAJOR secrets. We all have access to the same information after all. Might be wrong though. Chris is noticeably quiet at this point in the thread ;)

Wouldn't work though. Could you imagine all the people begging to get access and all the problems it would bring. It would be nice to have a google-like closed door section though.

Yeah , a tough one I guess ;)

It's a good idea, but as you say, there's just noway it would work. You'd get people just posting for anything etc.

I'm not noticing these results you're referring to anymore.

i.e. websitepublisher is not in the top 10 for wireless phone reviews.

Websitepublisher.net is still ranked high though for "debt management guide" (2nd page) and "Indy Racing Collectibles."

Here's my speculation:

We all know that Google has implemented Local Rank into its algorithim. Links from related sites count much more now.

I can verify this because I've linked to my debt site from my other, unrelated sites and the PR5 site is nowhere to be found.

But possibly some sites are "unaligned" in categories. Websitepublisher.net is one such site. Since a websitepublisher.net thread's backlinks would come from websitepublisher.net, none of it would be filtered out.

Something like that

btw incka - once I get more content up I think it would be a good idea for me and you to do a link exchange. Even though we both compete for the same keywords, #15 and #16 for some keywords would be better than nothing.

I'm all for that. I'm considering buying traffic from Dan Grossman's site... It has a debt relief thing, and even if only 1 in 1000 people who are sent to the website click a google ad I'll break even...

How did you get so much PR to it?

I linked to my other sites. Unfortunately, they're totally unrelated so that didn't help me.

But I'm thinking it could help you - all google would see is a PR5 debt management site linking to yours (assuming that google doesn't keep track of a site's links come from, which would be a huge task.)

I've also considered buying from Dan. However, remember that most of the traffic he is selling now is composed of popups, not expired domain names. I need content though before launching a campaign.

You said it took around 40 hours to write yours right?

That's non stop hours. You could just copy stuff from open-site.org or wikipedia.org
