August - Very Slow

Last July I lost my rankings, so August was obviously a poor month.

I got them back though a few months later - but this August has been awful, just awful. I've kept my rankings, yet traffic has for some reason dropped significantly and my CPCs are also down.

The funny thing is, July was my best month this year. Is August renowned as a slow month, or is it just affecting me?

In general the summer can be slower because people are out having fun. But if July is normally your best month, it is hard to say.

It could also be that August is the end of summer vacation and many people, such as college students, may be busy securing housing and whatnot and going online less.

I run a flash game arcade and it's widely known that this is the slow time of the year. Students are looking for housing, getting serious, going back to classes, moving home, so on. Even though it's now September, students are focusing on school work since they just got back, rather than goofing around and playing games as they inevitably will be in the coming weeks. I've also read that the hurt economy is actually playing a role on online businesses at this point, so I'm sure that's affecting you somehow depending on your field. Keep working on SEO, give it a month or so, things should go back up.
