Adsense revenue for upload youtube videos?

I just sign up for a YouTube account. It wanted to merge my Adsense account with my youtube account. Why? Does that mean that if I upload videos to youtube, I will get a portion of the ad revenue for when Google place ads on top of my video?

So you are saying that signup for Google AdSense video is separate from signup of Google Adsense content?
