By changing the name of my "home" button that is on my menu (menu is on all pages) to "keyword home" will I get credit for all my pages linking to the home page with keyword in the text, or do I have to add a seperate link within the subpages with the keyword?

Yes, this method could get more internal links to you.

Which method:

1. Changing my "home" button that is on my menu (menu is on all pages) to "keyword home?" or

2. Do I have to add a seperate link within the subpages with the keyword?

Well, the on page elements and optimization factors need to be considered in trying to have top rankings because although the ff page items are far more significant, but the on page elements need to be considered as well.

By internal linking you are helping your pages not just your index page. If your internal pages are many you can create micro-sites for it and link build it. If not, you can just deep link for it.
