I know this is a loaded question but:
If I want to aggressively promote a website, is there a dollar figure range that I can expect to spend in say the first year?

I'm in the fact finding/due diligence stage of either purchasing or creating a pet supply website. Thanks

All things are variable.

Are you going to spend even though you may have a negative ROI from that spending? Or is your ROI going to limit your investment (as it should IMO, no sense banking on future goodwill that maybe someday spending now will help).

I started my first ecommerce site with an initial investment of $1200, I put profits back into it repeatedly to grow it, and in total the first year it grossed half a million.

Other sites I've spent far more to get launched and grow by comparison, and they haven't made as much.
