Hi everyone,
I'm involved with a company that would like to put a testimonial site on its website. Having been in business for many years there are a large number of comments posted on numerous forums about the company's products. Is it legal to put some of the really positive quotes in our testimonial section? Do I need to provide a link to the actual forum quote? etc etc
Many thanks.

Technically no it isn't.

In practice I don't think it is something you'll get in trouble for. It would involve one of your customers who love your product spending a few thousand dollars on a lawyer to get an injunction against you (but no actual damages). Doesn't seem likely.

Links are a good idea though, because it shows people you aren't just making the reviews up.

Thanks for the reply Chris.
A while back I did try contacting many of the forums owners to get permission to use the responses. Despite e-mailing them several times none of them responded. So, I did try !
Well, I think I will go ahead and give it a go then with links to the actual quotes.
Thanks a lot
