Can I provide amazon with a PDF and have them print a book and send it to me?

OR do I have to offer it for sale on their site too?

I suppose you could do it and then after you get your copy, take it down. You could also do it with Cafepress.

Do I have to be a member of something 'special' on either site? Or can I do it as a normal user?

I couldn't find it searching amazon and haven't looked on cafepress yet.

I have a few PDFs I want to convert to books :D

Amazon is with Booksurge, and yes, you gotta sign up all special like.

Cafepress will probably be easier for a one off book, so long as you don't want a ton of flexibility.

The difficult part is reformatting the pdfs to their specifications (in both instances) real pain in the ***, real opportunity for a pdf ninja to open up a business offering to do it for people.

If you want to see an example of what booksurge can do, you can buy my book:

http://www.amazon.com/Sonnets-Shakespeare-William/dp/1419658670/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1231195051&sr=8-9

I've just barely broke even on the setup costs ($99) making it. With no factoring in the value of my time.
