cms, wysiwyg or hand code?

Hi Everybody,
I'm a novice in website publishing and just have studied some very basic html, css and javascript. I'm going to create a content site partially publishing some books I've written. My question is this: should I use a cms (like Wordpress) a wysiwyg html editor or just hand code? I've heard wysiwygs create messy codes which harm seo. Is this true? If not, any recomendations on which wysiwyg? How about cms?

Hi Hellie,

Aside from a WISIWYG editor, it won't matter much from a search engine's point of view. I personally avoid WISIWYG editors like the plague (for the reasons you stated), but I do use WordPress as a CMS. I don't do it for the search engines - I do it because it reduces the time it takes to get my content online.
