Google is cracking down big time on directories. Some of them got all their pagerank taken away. Others have their internal pagerank stripped. Even JoeAnt. No more internal pagerank. And I paid good money to have a site listed there. I found it surprising that Directory Critic has zero pagerank now, since they were helping users find good directories. These directory crackdowns explains why pagerank went down for some people.

Submitting to directories is one of the most wholesome white hat offpage SEO technique a person can do for their site and this is in effect Google telling us "no, we advise against that".

Not surprisingly, Bribe director--I mean---DMOZ directory keeps all their pagerank.

I'm not seeing it to that extent

Could be interesting... have you got any sort of evidence though?

Go on JoeAnt.com and you can see.

Here's a random category:

Not only did Google strip some of their inner pages of Pagerank, they gray-bar them, de-indexing them.

Here is a joeant category that isn't though:

If the ban is incomplete, I question if it isn't just a technical glitch.

This is quite interesting news. However, I don't think that Googles would penalized all directories. There must be some rational explaination why some lost their PR and some are left unscarred.
