Hello everyone,

I'm starting a wiki site that works in exactly the same way as Wikipedia, with all the content posted by users. Wikipedia contains a wealth of legal information concerning what can and cannot be posted, and what the site is and is not responsible for. Can I copy legal pages such as http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Copyright or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:General_disclaimer and just insert my site name and make any other small alterations required for the text to make complete sense in the context of my site?

I suspect I probably can, given that all pages on Wikipedia are subject to the GNU Free Documentation License, but could do with some reassurance! Do I need to make it clear that I've sourced the content of these pages from Wikipedia, for example?

Step forward Wikipedia experts!

Many thanks,

Tom

It is an open source website, you can use open source material unless it is specifically copy righted.

Wikipedia's licensing tends to require attribution though.

Hi, the safest thing to do is to make your own. Just make the Wikipedia resources as your guide.
