From The Start

i was just wondering if anyone one had ideas on how i should go about running my site.
im running my own server and i would like to run my webpage and have a forum & irc chat link. My site will be hosting media (small videos,mp3s).

any ideas or suggestions would be great

It depends on the size of your site, if you host media you need a big hard disk with high speed also. In my opinion, you should let's other hosting providers do it and you just concentrate on your job: developing your site, not dealing with server stuffs. Do the best and other do the rest ;)
