Newb looking for help

hey guys, just started my own website and was wondering about a few things.
To start with:

why is it when someone clicks on my url it brings them to my site but instead of displaying the url it shows my ip address?

It sounds like your DNS is setup wrong or you're merely using a forwarding service and not true DNS.

and im guessing that is why they are not getting back to me.


what route should i take now being i have bought the forwarding service for a yr.????

any suggestions on a real dns service?
